Luigi Tosi is Research Director at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources (IGG - Padova, Italy), qualified for Full Professor 04/A3, and member of the UNESCO Land Subsidence International Initiative (LaSII). His main research interest is applied and environmental geology of coastal systems, including hydrogeological issues such as land subsidence, groundwater exchange between continents and oceans, saltwater intrusion, relative sea-level rise, and vulnerability and hazard assessments related to human activities and global change. Additional research topics include Late Quaternary geology and coastal geomorphology. He has participated in more than 60 research projects at international, national, and competitive levels, serving as principal investigator in more than 40.
